SURABAYA, NOVEMBER 16, 2023. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) this year had the opportunity to host the activities of the Communication Forum of the Board of Commissioners of Regional Development Banks throughout Indonesia (FKDK BPDSI) Central Region. Located at Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers, the FKDK event which was held from Wednesday (15/11) to Thursday (16/11) was attended by the Board of Directors of bankjatim, the Board of Commissioners of bankjatim and the Board of Commissioners of BPD throughout Indonesia.

Independent Commissioner of bankjatim Sumaryono explained, FKDK BPDSI is a forum to accommodate the aspirations of the Board of Commissioners in contributing to increasing the role of BPD in the banking world. With this forum, it is hoped that members of the BPDSI Board of Commissioners can find it easy to communicate, exchange ideas and experiences institutionally. Both for actions within the organization and to outside parties.

"In addition, this forum is also useful for professional and organizational development purposes as well as matters relating to the duties and responsibilities of the Board of Commissioners in conducting supervision, as stated in the vision and mission of FKDK BPD-SI in accordance with the Articles of Association and Bylaws of FKDK BPD-SI," he explained.

In FKDK BPDSI, which has the theme Collaborating in the Era of Borderless Technology, there was also a National Seminar with expert speakers in their fields. The material presented in the seminar was twofold. First, Economy Outlook 2024 and Digital Economy Development: Opportunities and Challenges for Regional Development Banks presented by Faisal H Basri, S.E., M.A. Then second, Be aware of the Threat of Cyber Crime in the Middle of Digital Banking Transformation Efforts presented by Kombes Pol. Roberto G.M Pasaribu, S.I.K., MSi. "With this national seminar, it is expected to add insight so that it can be a guideline for each BPD to be better in the future," said Sumaryono.

He revealed, as is well known, that the global economic challenges after the Covid-19 pandemic are getting tougher. The existence of massive transformation and acceleration towards technology / digitalization in all fields is seen as potentially causing various disruptive risks in it. Where this can affect the global economy and the financial services industry/banking sector.

"For this reason, in this National Seminar we will jointly try to review issues and economic conditions globally, regionally, and nationally in 2024, as well as the development of a digital-based economy and its impact on the banking industry, especially for BPD," said Sumaryono.

He hopes that through this national seminar event, it can provide an understanding of general economic developments and risk mitigation for bank business processes, especially those related to technology / digital banking which inevitably, like it or not, we as business actors in the financial services sector, in this case BPD, must begin to transform in that direction. "The goal is that BPD can continue to grow and survive the disruptive technology that is getting faster," continued Sumaryono. The BPDs that participated in this FKDK activity were Bank BJB, Bank Jateng, Bank DKI, Bank Kalbar, Bank Kalsel, Bank BPD DIY, Bank Kaltimtara, Bank Banten, and Bank Kalteng.
