SURABAYA, May 29, 2025. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) continues to encourage the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in East Java through the People's Business Credit (KUR) program. This was demonstrated by the symbolic handover of Bank Jatim KUR with a total value of Rp 800 million to two Bank Jatim customers. The handover took place during the Village Creativity and Innovation Product Exhibition, The 6th Kampoeng Kreasi Exhibition (PAKASI) 2025, held on Thursday (29/5) at Royal Plaza Surabaya, and was conducted by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and the Compliance Director of Bank Jatim, Umi Rodiyah.
Umi explained that this credit disbursement is part of Bank Jatim's efforts to support the Kampoeng Kreasi program to strengthen the empowerment of village communities in East Java. Umi acknowledged that Bank Jatim is committed to continuously supporting government programs, particularly in expanding financing access for productive businesses, enhancing MSME competitiveness, and boosting economic growth and job creation. "We will finance sectors that can become engines of economic growth through credit disbursement so they can accelerate the national economy, especially in the East Java region," she stated.
Umi further elaborated that Bank Jatim, through the KUR program, is ready to accelerate and expand capital access for the MSME sector. She affirmed that the program will run in accordance with the targets set by the government and that the KUR funds are genuinely used to increase the production capacity of business actors. With easier and more affordable financing access, it is hoped that Bank Jatim's fostered MSMEs can increase production capacity, expand marketing networks, and create new jobs.
"To date, we have successfully disbursed KUR to various sectors, including trade, agriculture, fisheries, and the creative industry. Bank Jatim does not only provide financing but also offers mentoring and financial education so that these MSME entrepreneurs can manage their businesses better," she added.
Throughout 2024, Bank Jatim was able to record credit growth of 16.98 percent (YoY). This figure is above the national average growth of only 10.39 percent (YoY). The composition of Bank Jatim's credit distribution consists of consumer credit amounting to Rp 34.41 trillion, an increase of 10.26 percent (YoY), and productive credit amounting to Rp 29.65 trillion, an increase of 25.88 percent (YoY). Throughout 2024, Jatim Kilat has approved Rp 8.04 trillion in credit, with Rp 1.21 trillion still in process. "We hope that the massive credit disbursement carried out by Bank Jatim can contribute to realizing the dreams of MSMEs so that their businesses can grow even larger," she stressed.
Meanwhile, in her address, Khofifah conveyed that this annual event serves as a strategic platform for MSME players to showcase superior products and expand market networks through creative and innovative approaches. Khofifah also emphasized the importance for MSME actors to continuously develop product competitiveness through innovation and creativity. "The innovative aspect is crucial for maintaining existence as well as expanding market share amidst increasingly tight competition. Therefore, MSME actors should never feel discouraged. The market share for MSME products both domestically and internationally is still wide open," she stated.
According to Khofifah, the role of MSMEs as the main pillar of the national economy should not be underestimated. This sector is capable of absorbing more than 90 percent of the workforce and contributing about 60 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). "MSMEs are the backbone of the regional economy. Therefore, the MSME empowerment strategy cannot be sectoral but must be holistic. Starting from training, financing, digitalization, to strengthening market access must be carried out simultaneously," she remarked.
Khofifah also appreciated the cross-sector collaboration, including the involvement of the private sector, academia, and creative communities in supporting MSME growth. She referred to the pentahelix approach as key to accelerating the transformation of East Java's MSMEs towards a resilient and sustainable economy.
The Kampoeng Kreasi 2025 Exhibition was participated by dozens of MSMEs operating in various sectors, such as culinary, fashion, crafts, herbal-based cosmetics, and local-based applied technology. The event is part of the East Java Provincial Government's efforts to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem and encourage digital transformation for micro-business actors.
