BALIKPAPAN, May 8, 2025. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) continues to fully support the East Java Provincial Government's program, one of which is strengthening domestic trade connectivity through the Trade and Investment Mission event. This is realized by including several Bank Jatim-fostered MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the Trade Mission held in Balikpapan on Thursday (8/5). Located at the Gran Senyiur Hotel Balikpapan, the activity was attended by the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Seno Aji, and the President Director of Bank Jatim Busrul Iman.

Busrul explained that the trade mission is a platform to bring together MSME players from inter-regions or provinces with buyers. Besides the meeting of business actors, this event is also a gateway for socio-cultural exchange between regions. "We are currently continuously trying to help overcome the problems faced by MSME players. Starting from market access, financing, to mentoring. Bank Jatim strongly supports MSMEs in developing their businesses. Well, one of Bank Jatim's missions in this activity is to help fostered MSMEs expand their market network and support the government in strengthening trade relations between East Java Province and East Kalimantan," he explained.

There were 3 Bank Jatim-fostered MSMEs included in the event. Among them were apple nastar products from MSME Toko Kue Obby, various flavored mende nuts from MSME Renjana, and batik products from MSME Batik Puspita. These excellent products from Bank Jatim's fostered MSMEs are expected to provide benefits according to the needs of the community in the East Kalimantan region. "As a regional bank, we will continue to support MSMEs so that their growth is faster and they have good quality so they can compete in the national and international markets," said Busrul.

In addition, on that occasion, Bank Jatim also presented the Wastra Batik Performing Art from Bank Jatim's fostered MSME from Pacitan, Batik Puspita. Batik with the Sekartaji motif was successfully displayed by Raka – Raki East Java in this Trade Mission performance. "This batik textile performance is one of Bank Jatim's ways to preserve and encourage the community to love ancestral heritage, especially for the younger generation. Hopefully, in the future, the number of batik enthusiasts will increase and Indonesian batik can become more known on the global stage," explained Busrul.

Meanwhile, the trade and investment mission in Balikpapan this time successfully recorded a total transaction value of Rp 1.05 trillion. This figure is the highest throughout this year and simultaneously reaffirms East Java's position as a motor for national economic growth amidst global pressure. Khofifah called this achievement tangible proof that inter-provincial collaboration can strengthen domestic market independence. "This is a concrete form of inter-regional cooperation that is mutually trusting and mutually supportive. East Java continues to be committed to maintaining economic stability and expanding the national trade network," she said.

The products traded at the event were very diverse. Starting from coal, fish feed, food and beverages, fashion, processed fishery products, to restaurant raw materials. Meanwhile, the largest investment was recorded in the crude palm oil (CPO) and wood pallet sectors. Some of East Java's excellent products that were also exhibited included tuna floss, spices, processed crab, convection, and processed beef.

According to Khofifah, the East Java-East Kalimantan trade mission has high strategic value. In 2023, the total trade between the two provinces reached Rp 23.25 trillion, where East Java purchased from East Kalimantan for Rp 18.89 trillion and sold for Rp 4.36 trillion. "We are ready to become the New Gateway of the Archipelago and fully support East Kalimantan as the prospective capital of the nation," Khofifah stressed.

Seno Aji also expressed appreciation and optimism for this cooperation. His party hopes that East Java business players are willing to build more industrial downstreaming in East Kalimantan. And most importantly, Seno also hopes that this trade mission can bring great benefits to business players and both regions. "East Java is the gateway to the Archipelago and East Kalimantan is the heart of the future capital city. This synergy will accelerate the growth of Kalimantan," he concluded.
