JAKARTA, November 20, 2025. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) continues to strengthen its commitment to providing optimal services to prospective Hajj pilgrims. This commitment follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia and Bank Jatim Sharia Business Unit (UUS) regarding the provision and utilization of Sharia banking products and services in the organization of the Hajj pilgrimage. Held in the Meeting Room of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah RI, the signing was attended by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia Irfan Yusuf, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development Jaenal Effendi, Director of Micro, Retail, and Sharia Business Bank Jatim Tonny Prasetyo, and other executive officials on Thursday (20/11).
Tonny explained that the scope of the signed MoU includes several aspects: opening accounts for Hajj and Umrah fee deposits, managing information data related to registration, cancellation, and final payment of pilgrims, and distributing funds for the cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage. Tonny stated that this MoU signing is a renewal of cooperation, as Hajj and Umrah affairs were previously under the Ministry of Religious Affairs but are now independently established under the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
According to him, the appointment of Bank Jatim UUS as a Hajj Pilgrimage Cost Deposit Acceptance Bank (BPS BPIH) is a great honor and a responsibility that will be carried out with full commitment and integrity by the company. This is also an opportunity for Bank Jatim to contribute more significantly to supporting the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage for the Indonesian people.
"Through this collaboration, we hope to provide added value to prospective Hajj pilgrims and support the successful implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage every year. Bank Jatim is ready to fully support the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in realizing safe, transparent, and professional Hajj fund management," he explained.
Meanwhile, Irfan Yusuf also said that the dozens of BPS BPIH are tasked with accepting initial deposits and full payment deposits from prospective Hajj pilgrims for the organization of the Hajj pilgrimage, and at the same time managing savings accounts opened by prospective Hajj pilgrims for the purpose of paying the initial deposit of regular BPIH or Special BPIH. "We want to provide the best service for all Indonesian people who plan to visit the House of Allah SWT. Everything starts with financial management through banking. Now, the business activities of BPS BPIH must be based on Sharia principles to ensure all transactions and fund management comply with Islamic law provisions," he emphasized.
He hopes that this cooperation can provide the best service for Hajj pilgrims and ensure more trustworthy fund management in accordance with Sharia principles. "We believe that all BPS BPIH will carry out their duties as the frontline in safeguarding, accumulating, and optimizing Hajj funds as well as possible."
To make it easier for the public, especially the millennial generation, to prepare for the Hajj pilgrimage, Bank Jatim UUS has the Tabungan Haji iB Amanah product that can be utilized by young people. Tabungan Haji iB Amanah is a savings account in IDR currency managed based on Sharia principles and used as a means to secure a Hajj portion certainty (regular) with a free or monthly deposit system. The contract used is Mudharabah Mutiaqah. It has many advantages. One of them is that the process of obtaining a Hajj portion number is easier because Bank Jatim UUS is connected online to Siskohat (Integrated Hajj Computerized Information System).
