Driving MSME Business Development: Bank Jatim Successfully Hosts Diskofest 2024

SURABAYA, October 18, 2024. In a strategic move to bolster the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in East Java, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) successfully organized Diskofest 2024, held from October 18 to October 20, 2024. Staged at the Surabaya Expo Center, the event—themed "Empowering Local MSME Innovation"—was headlined by prominent Indonesian artists including D’masiv, Tiara Andini, Coldiac, and FakeDopp. This public festival also showcased hundreds of bankjatim-mentored MSME vendors from across the East Java region.
Busrul Iman, President Director of bankjatim, explained that Diskofest 2024 is a key corporate initiative designed to drive MSME empowerment and catalyze regional economic growth. The platform allowed mentored MSMEs to exhibit and market their innovative products. By supporting the MSME sector, bankjatim not only facilitates the resilience and expansion of small businesses but also strengthens the local economy and preserves East Java's rich cultural heritage. Over its three-day run, Diskofest 2024 attracted more than 23,000 visitors, generating a total transaction volume exceeding IDR 400 million.

The event featured a diverse array of sectors, including batik, accessories, food and beverage, and fashion crafts. Furthermore, the integration of bankjatim’s QRIS technology ensured a seamless digital transaction experience for all attendees,” he stated.
According to Busrul, Diskofest 2024 presented a significant opportunity for the community to support local economic development by purchasing high-quality local goods. Each showcased product was meticulously selected based on its quality, innovation, and market competitiveness. For participating MSMEs, the event served as a strategic networking hub to acquire new clientele and collaborate with stakeholders to elevate their brands. bankjatim envisions this initiative as a springboard for MSMEs to compete on a global scale, aligning with the objectives of the recent Trade Connect Summit.
“Hosting an MSME exhibition alongside a music festival creates a substantial multiplier effect. The success of such large-scale events benefits not only the event production industry but also revitalizes surrounding sectors, including culinary, hospitality, and artisanal crafts,” Busrul added.
Beyond commerce and entertainment, Diskofest 2024 featured a variety of interactive programs. To enhance business and financial literacy, the event hosted seminars and talk shows on relevant, inspiring themes—ranging from robust financial management to entrepreneurial strategies for MSMEs.
For younger demographics, drawing competitions were held for elementary and junior high school students to foster creative expression. Coffee enthusiasts engaged in a Fun Cupping Competition, providing an opportunity to sample and evaluate specialty coffee from local MSME roasters. Additionally, visitors participated in a Reels Challenge, a digital competition for creators to showcase the event through social media content.
