Expanding Synergy, Bank Jatim Signs MoU with KBI and KPBI

SURABAYA, August 6, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (Persero) (PT KBI) and PT Kliring Perdagangan Berjangka Indonesia (PT KPBI) on Tuesday (August 6). The MoU focuses on cooperation in banking services and the utilization and development of the Warehouse Receipt System.
The signing took place at Bank Jatim’s Semeru Room and was attended by Bank Jatim’s Director of Micro, Retail, and Medium Business, R. Arief Wicaksono; Business Development & Operations Director of PT KBI Saidu Solihin; President Director of PT KPBI Fajar Hari Utomo; and Director of PT KPBI Yose Skundarisa. Also present to witness the signing were Bank Jatim’s Director of Operations Arif Suhirman and Head of Bappebti Bureau, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Widiastuti.
R. Arief Wicaksono explained that the MoU aims to utilize banking products and services as well as develop the warehouse receipt system, create synergy in utilizing each party’s resources, and establish ongoing cooperation in banking services. "When discussing the potential that can be developed with PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (Persero) and PT Kliring Perdagangan Berjangka Indonesia (PT KPBI), there are significant opportunities. One of them is the potential to increase Third-Party Funds (DPK), especially from current accounts and deposits," he said.
Furthermore, Bank Jatim can provide financing facilities, transactional services, including the use of banking financial transaction services, as well as payment and receipt facilities. "Cooperation in utilizing and developing the warehouse receipt system and its derivative commodity products can also be collaborated on. As a strategic partner of the government, Bank Jatim is committed to supporting efforts to boost economic growth through various facilities, including financing this warehouse receipt system," he emphasized.
The warehouse receipt system facilitates the provision of credit for businesses using inventory or goods stored in warehouses as collateral. This system helps stabilize market prices by enabling sales to occur throughout the year.
Arief continued, saying that Bank Jatim hopes this synergy will have a positive impact on all parties, particularly the people of Indonesia. "We are optimistic that this collaboration with KBI and KPBI will provide broad benefits and, of course, we expect it to enhance the warehouse receipt services and other banking services of Bank Jatim," he added.
During the occasion, Fajar Hari Utomo stated that the synergy between the companies is a strategic step that will strengthen each entity and create added value for all stakeholders. "The cooperation plan between KPBI and Bank Jatim not only strengthens the two companies but also has great potential to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the futures trading and warehouse receipt industries in Indonesia," he said.
