MATARAM, July 9, 2025. In order to strengthen domestic trade connections, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) is supporting the Trade and Investment Mission held by the East Java Provincial Government in Balikpapan on Wednesday (10/7). This is realized by including several Bank Jatim fostered MSMEs in the event themed 'Trade & Investment Mission to Enhance Connectivity Network between East Java Province and West Nusa Tenggara Province'. Located at Hotel Lombok Raya, the activity was attended by the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, and the Acting President Director of Bank Jatim, Arif Suhirman.

Arif explained that the trade mission is a platform to bring together MSME actors from different regions or provinces with buyers. Aside from business meetings, this event is also a gateway for socio-cultural exchange between regions. Through this activity, Bank Jatim is also making efforts to accelerate East Java's economic growth and expand financial inclusion.

"We are currently continuously striving to help overcome the problems faced by MSME actors. Starting from marketing access, financing, to mentoring. Bank Jatim strongly supports MSMEs in developing their businesses. Well, one of our missions in this activity is to help our fostered MSMEs expand their market network and support the government in strengthening trade relations between East Java Province and NTB," he elaborated.

Arif added that MSMEs hold extraordinary potential to become the driving force of the national and regional economy. Therefore, Bank Jatim will always continue to accelerate financial literacy and inclusion for business actors so they can level up and be globally competitive. "This is part of our commitment to promoting sustainable people's economy. As a regional bank, we will continue to support MSMEs so their growth is faster and their quality is good, enabling them to compete in national and international markets," stated Arif.

There were 3 Bank Jatim fostered MSMEs participating in the event. Among them are batik products from Batik Hariyani MSME, fried shallot products from Bawang Goreng RJS MSME, and chocolate products from Cokelat Mojopahit MSME. These superior products from Bank Jatim fostered MSMEs are expected to provide benefits according to the needs of the community in the NTB region.

In addition, on that occasion, Bank Jatim also presented a Wastra Batik Performing Art from Bank Jatim's fostered MSME from Jember, Batik Tulis Hariyani. Batik with the motifs of Alun Baruno (sea waves), Pandalungan Jember, and Sekar Langon were successfully displayed by Raka – Raki East Java in this Trade Mission performance. "The Wastra Batik performance is one of Bank Jatim's ways to preserve and excite the community in loving ancestral heritage, especially for the younger generation. Hopefully, the interest in batik will increase in the future, and Indonesian batik can become more known on the global stage," explained Arif.

Meanwhile, the trade and investment mission in NTB this time successfully recorded a total transaction value of Rp 1.068 trillion. This figure is the highest this year and simultaneously reaffirms East Java's position as the national economic driving force amid global pressure.

Khofifah conveyed that the trade mission activity is part of the domestic market expansion strategy, especially in the context of strengthening basic commodity distribution through the optimization of outbound and return cargo between islands. "We want to encourage domestic market integration. For this, spirit and cooperation between regions, including with NTB, are needed to strengthen inter-regional trade," she said.

Based on 2023 data, the trade balance between East Java and NTB experienced a surplus of Rp 5.29 trillion. This indicates a mutually beneficial economic relationship. "We are optimistic that through the trade mission, we can continue to open wider business opportunities, increase trade volume, and strengthen business networks between the two provinces," she said.

Meanwhile, NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal also expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the East Java Provincial Government. "We are ready to become a reliable raw material supplier for East Java. This trade relation will complement each other and open up more business opportunities. There are many things we can learn from East Java," he said.
