SURAKARTA, August 1, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta regarding cooperation in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and Human Resource Development on Thursday (1/8). The signing ceremony took place in Meeting Room 1 of the Dr. Prakosa Building at UNS and was carried out by Bank Jatim’s Director of Operations, Arif Suhirman, and Acting Rector of UNS, Chatarina Muliana.
Arif explained that the future cooperation plan with UNS would encompass various areas, including education, research, community service, and the improvement and empowerment of human resources, while still considering the regulations, policies, and procedures in place within both institutions.
“UNS is a potential client of Bank Jatim’s Madiun Branch, especially with a significant funding and lending potential at its Caruban Campus. We are very grateful for this cooperation, which, God willing, will bring blessings and positive benefits for both parties,” he said.
According to Arif, there are numerous business collaboration opportunities that can be developed between Bank Jatim and UNS. These include increasing Third-Party Funds (DPK), particularly in the Corporate Giro segment; optimizing services and fund management through the collection of student tuition payments (UKT); generating fee-based income via the implementation of Virtual Accounts (VA) and Bank Jatim’s e-channels; and offering credit facilities for lecturers and staff at UNS, such as personal loans (KMG), mortgage loans (KPR), and other financing options.
“It cannot be denied that the rapid development of the banking industry enables Bank Jatim and UNS to collaborate not only in education and services but also in other areas. We hope this partnership is not solely about financial gain but also about spreading positive impact,” Arif added.
Moreover, this MoU adds to Bank Jatim’s existing collaborations with various universities, reflecting the bank’s commitment to the advancement of education and its efforts to enhance the company’s corporate image.
“Bank Jatim takes education seriously and continues to support various educational development programs in Indonesia. We are always enthusiastic about the synergy between the banking sector and academia, as it is a crucial step in preparing a young generation ready to face global challenges,” Arif emphasized.
On the other hand, Chatarina Muliana warmly welcomed the cooperation with Bank Jatim. According to her, this partnership is a strategic move to strengthen the synergy that will bring significant benefits to both parties, particularly in supporting the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
“This moment is a strategic step toward advancing Indonesia’s superior human resources. We are pleased that, even though Bank Jatim is a regional development bank of East Java, it is willing to extend its reach beyond its regional boundaries. We thank you and hope that our joint commitment to improving the quality of human resources, particularly at UNS, can be successfully achieved,” she stated.
