Supporting the EKI Program Launched by OJK, Bank Jatim Provides Tents and Jatim Agent Facilities to Bojonegoro MSMEs

BOJONEGORO, August 3, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) expressed its support for the Inclusive Financial Ecosystem (EKI) program initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) aimed at increasing financial inclusion, particularly in rural areas. Bank Jatim’s support was demonstrated through the provision of tents for MSMEs and Jatim Agent facilities during the EKI Kick-Off event on Saturday (August 3) in Bojonegoro. Held in Dolokgede Village, the facilities were symbolically handed over by Bank Jatim's Director of Micro, Retail & Medium Business, R. Arief Wicaksono, to UD. Asbi Berkah.
The event was also attended by State Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia Pratikno, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar, Chief Executive Supervisor for the Conduct of Financial Services Business Actors, Education and Consumer Protection of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Deputy Commissioner of International Relations, AML-CFT, and Regional Affairs cum Acting Head of OJK East Java Office Bambang Mukti Riyadi, Acting Regent of Bojonegoro Adriyanto, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia East Java Representative Office M. Noor Nugroho, and representatives of other financial institutions.
Arief stated that Bank Jatim is committed to continuously empowering MSMEs even in remote villages. In addition to providing various necessary facilities, the bank also regularly assists with marketing and encourages digital literacy. “We actively provide access to financing, including the People's Business Credit (KUR), to help elevate rural MSMEs so they can contribute to regional economic growth,” he emphasized.
Arief further added that Bank Jatim will continue supporting OJK’s EKI program. This initiative, which involves various stakeholders, is crucial to protect rural communities from accessing illegal financial services. “Financial inclusion and literacy are vital economic drivers for village communities. Bank Jatim’s agents are highly effective in improving financial inclusion,” he noted.
By becoming a Jatim Agent, rural residents can access essential banking services without needing to travel to a Bank Jatim branch. Services such as fund transfers, cash withdrawals, bill payments, and other banking transactions can be handled by simply visiting or contacting the nearest Jatim Agent.
Being a Jatim Agent also comes with numerous benefits, including earning additional income from every transaction, no deposit limits, and no time or location restrictions since everything can be managed via mobile phone. “It’s very easy, practical, and accessible anytime,” said Arief.
Meanwhile, Mahendra explained that the key to national economic growth lies in the strength of domestic potential—specifically regional economic development. “In rural areas, this is being addressed through the EKI program, ensuring broader participation and benefits. That’s why we also collaborate with local governments through the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD),” Mahendra explained.
During the event, State Secretary Pratikno expressed his appreciation for OJK’s initiative in creating a new engine of economic growth to drive the rural economy in Dolokgede Village. “Our village used to be quite prosperous. We had tobacco plantations producing cigars for export. But over time, we experienced degradation. So, we need new engines to reignite the potential here,” he said.
The EKI program has achieved significant financial inclusion results, including the opening of over 8,000 savings accounts (regular, student, gold), providing credit/financing to more than 1,500 borrowers, expanding financial access points through Laku Pandai agents and QRIS payment systems, and conducting 500 financial education and mentoring activities for rural communities.
